Desert Mountain Supports Syria Awareness Day

Story by Taylette Nunez

Students Help Syria with Nation-wide Flash Mobs

Story by Taylette Nunez

The Syrian revolution began March 15, 2011. Since them, not a day passes without men, women, and children being tortured and murdered by the Syrian government in the name of freedom. “The situation in Syria has been escalating for over a year now. The citizens were peacefully revolting for a basic human right—freedom. Their government, led by so called “president” Bashar Al-Assad, has since murdered, tortured, detained, or displaced every man, woman, and child who asks for their inalienable rights,” says senior Zana Alattar, whose family is from Homs, Syria- the current capital of the revolution.

Obviously, we’re already perfect, so there’s no need. Right?

Ruthless!

Story by Alena Sanderson

Photo by DM TheaterMembers of the Desert Mountain production of Ruthless! had a lot to be thankful for last fall when they got their holiday present early. Junior Jasmine Youseffi recounts how Mr. Roehr and Mrs. Mumaw broke the news:  “They brought us all in there, claiming we were going to discuss tech for the Variety Show we were supposed to have, but then they told us it was cancelled because Ruthless is going to state. Everyone was crying and screaming and freaking out!”
